Confession - I have never felt at home in corporate America (M.S. ’06) - So, I decided to use my business skills to focus on my passion for wine and created Debbie’s D’Canter in 2021. My company focuses on sharing the stories behind the bottles and along the way inspiring people to live the "wine lifestyle" Sharing and demystifying the World's wines through the From the Boardroom to Bordeaux podcast and blog, social media, speaking/tasting events, and the upcoming book by the same name.
I have achieved certifications from WSET and the International Sommelier Guild, working toward my WSET Diploma and I am a published wine reviewer. My love of wine started in the ’90s, married to a Chef for 22 years, wine and food pairing along with wine tastings quickly became my specialty and a topic I can talk about for hours!
There are so many reasons why I love wine. One of the main reasons is that a favorite wine can be associated with a particular time, place, or memory. That’s the thing with great food and great wine — it is woven into our life experiences. When it comes to wine, the taste, the bouquet, or simply the wine-drinking experience itself can elicit a memory of a time or place.
I work 12–14 hours a day and I am constantly busy but I haven’t been this…happy, in a long time, and what is life if not the pursuit of happiness?…and good wine!
It’s important to remember that drinking wine is about moderation, and overdrinking is never a good idea. When enjoyed in moderation, the wine offers many benefits to your cardiovascular health
